Introduction

Robert E. Oliver, an atheist residing in Christian County, objects to a statutorily required form that contains the words, "So help me God."

The issue is whether Oliver's constitutional rights are violated by the phrase "So help me God" in the form of the oath or affirmation, prescribed in section 137.155.1,1 for the required list of a taxpayer's real and tangible personal property...
