JOHNSTONE, Justice.

After being dismissed from his employment, Barnhart brought suit against Union Underwear Co., Inc. (d/b/a Fruit of the Loom), in April 1995, alleging that he had been illegally discharged because of his age in violation of KRS 344.040(1). The jury found in favor of Barnhart and recommended compensatory damages in the amount of $250,000 and punitive damages in the amount of $750,000. The trial court entered judgment against Fruit of the Loom accordingly...
