STATEMENT OF FACTS

Calvin R. Barrois, Jr., was charged by bill of indictment with second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. At his arraignment on February 3, 1999, he pleaded not guilty. However, on January 19, 2000, the day set for trial, he withdrew his earlier plea and entered a plea of guilty to the reduced charge of manslaughter.
