The defendant, Marquette Paul King, was convicted by a jury of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La.R.S. 14:95.1. He was subsequently sentenced to serve ten years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence, and to pay a fine of $1,000, which was subsequently suspended. Defendant now seeks review of his conviction claiming that he did not voluntarily absent himself from trial, he was justified...
