FACTS

¶ 1. Tomlinson Interests, Inc. was the owner of a gas well at the Johns Field in Rankin County. Tomlinson filed for bankruptcy in 1984, but because the well became damaged, the bankruptcy court authorized the bankruptcy trustee, Gary Knotsman, to drill a replacement well. Dan Pierce was hired as the engineer for the construction of the replacement well. On July 15, 1985, the well "blew out" and sour gas escaped...
