The plaintiffs, Lee G. Edwards, Jr. ("Edwards") and Helen W. Edwards, appeal a summary judgment in favor of the defendant, Dr. David Raines, in this medical malpractice action.

Facts

On May 5, 1997, Edwards submitted to Dr. Raines for an operation to remove a lesion from his upper small intestine after having a polyp previously removed from the same area by Dr. Raines's partner, Dr. Seegers, who was Edwards's family physician...
