OPINION

FLANDERS, Justice.

A Superior Court jury found the defendant, Walter Truesdale, guilty of murdering seventy-nine-year old Irene Picard in her own bedroom. After she had finished doing her laundry, Mrs. Picard returned to her Pawtucket apartment. Unfortunately, the defendant was still busy ransacking it for drug money. Evidently surprised by her return, the defendant apparently decided to dispatch Mrs. Picard...
