In this medical malpractice suit, the Louisiana Patient's Compensation Fund (the "Fund") appeals from a trial court judgment rendered in favor of the plaintiffs, Leona M. and Wiley I. Dawes ("Mr. and Mrs. Dawes").

In July 1992, Walter Brent, M.D., treated Mrs. Dawes, age 84 years, with injections and physical therapy for right shoulder pain. In December 1992, because her severe pain was not responding...
