We granted certiorari in this case to determine whether the court of appeal erred in affirming the judgment of the district court granting plaintiffs' motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and increasing the jury's damage award. For the reasons that follow, we vacate that judgment and reinstate the jury verdict.
