On November 29, 1995, plaintiff, a corrections officer, slipped and fell on the premises of the defendant, a physician. Plaintiff had been escorting an inmate there for an eye examination. Plaintiff sustained a severe injury to his lower back from the incident, and eventually had two of his vertebrae surgically fused to help relieve his pain.
