On December 5, 1996, Nathaniel Scroggins was convicted of one count of murder, one count of murder made capital because the murder was committed by the use of a deadly weapon while the victim was in a vehicle, and one count of murder made capital because the murder was committed by the use of a deadly weapon fired from within a vehicle.
