On July 8, 1999, defendant, Michael Johnson, was arrested for driving under the influence of a drug in violation of section 11-501(a)(4) of the Illinois Vehicle Code. 625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(4) (West 1998). Following his arrest, he was advised of his rights to take or refuse a chemical test which would detect alcohol or drugs in his bloodstream.
