On October 23, 1997, the defendant, Kevin F. Sholes, was indicted for the second degree murder of Walter McKay, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. The defendant pled not guilty at his arraignment on October 28, 1997. The defendant filed suppression and discovery motions on November 19, 1997.
