In September 1995, Dorothy Adams sued Clifton Sanders and several fictitious defendants, alleging negligence, negligent entrustment, and wantonness after being involved in an automobile accident. Sanders denied the allegations and moved for a summary judgment. The circuit court entered a summary judgment for Sanders. Adams appealed to the Alabama Supreme
