I. INTRODUCTION

The University of Alaska terminated Dr. Mritunjoy Sengupta from his position as a tenured professor of mining engineering. The University based its decision on the factual findings made by a hearing officer at an earlier proceeding on grievances brought by Sengupta against the University.
