Appellant Michael Charles Stewart was indicted and tried in Ramsey County District Court on counts of first- and second-degree murder for the killings of Amanda Carlson-Bey, Carlson-Bey's unborn child, and the two-year old son of appellant and Carlson-Bey, Jereau Carlson.
