On June 17, 1982, the defendant, Frank Winding, Jr., was charged by grand jury indictment with aggravated rape, to which he pleaded not guilty. After a trial, a twelve-member jury found him guilty as charged. On June 2, 1983, he was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
