Ferrell Family Farms (Ferrell) and Luvaas Family Farms (Luvaas) owned almost 4,000 acres of farmland as tenants in common. They managed the land under a farming agreement. When Ferrell attempted to lease the land, Luvaas balked. Ferrell submitted the issue of leasing to arbitration.
