Because these two cases involve an identical issue, we consolidate them for the purpose of issuing a single opinion.

An innocent passenger in a motor vehicle that is involved in a traffic stop enjoys undiminished privacy rights despite status as a passenger. Nevertheless, nothing prevents police officers from requesting identification of a passenger under the same circumstances that they can request identification...
