Respondent passenger sued appellant Alamo Rent-A-Car, Inc. and the driver of a rented car for injuries resulting from an accident caused by the driver in Iowa. Alamo moved to limit its liability to $100,000, pursuant to Minn.Stat. § 170.54 (2000). The district court denied the motion, concluding that Iowa law, which has no limit on a rental-car company's vicarious liability...
