John R. Darvish, Respondent, was found liable by a jury in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County of defamation of Shahriar Gohari, Petitioner, and of tortious interference with a contract that Gohari had entered to purchase an automobile dealership. The jury awarded Petitioner compensatory damages in the amount of $500,000.00 for the defamation claim.
