On March 6, 1998, plaintiff's decedent, Emilie Yamin, then 89 years old, was admitted to defendant Highgate Manor of Rensselaer, Inc., a skilled nursing facility in Rensselaer County, to undergo rehabilitation for a fractured left hip.
