On August 15, 2000, the Government filed this action alleging that the defendant, Krishnaswami Sriram ("Dr.Sriram"), fraudulently obtained at least $1,224,154.25 in Medicare payments. The Government asserted claims for civil penalties and treble damages under the False Claims Act, 31 U.S.C. § 3729 (Counts II and III), as well as damage claims under common law theories of mispayment...
