This case arises from an accident that occurred during a Halloween "haunted hayride" in 1996 at Woodmen of the World Lodge # 3854 in Saraland. Daniel H. Knowles fell off the back of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a truck driven by Joseph H. Dodd. The fall caused Knowles to have a permanent closed head injury.
