Dennis M. Ratigan, Sr. (Dennis Sr.), was shot by a patron of the Sundowner Bar when he intervened in a brawl in the bar's parking lot. The appellants, Dennis Sr. and his wife, Micheline Ratigan, also known as Michelle Ratigan for these consolidated proceedings, sued the appellee, K.D.L., Inc., the proprietor of the Sundowner Bar, for negligence.
