On July 13, 1998, the defendant, Kay V. Dalton, was charged with possession of cocaine in violation of La. R.S. 40:967. On July 30, 1998, a jury found the defendant found guilty of attempted possession of cocaine. On that day, the trial court ordered a pre-sentence investigative report.
