Dennis Fosnow appeals an order denying postconviction relief under WIS. STAT. § 974.06 (1997-98).1 In September 1989, he was charged with various crimes including armed burglary, kidnapping, and sexual assault. Although Fosnow originally pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to these charges, he withdrew the pleas after psychiatric evaluations did not support it.
