This case appears to present a cutting-edge issue, because it involves a prosecution for theft by means of a deception across state lines perpetrated partly via the Internet. But in reality, the case turns on principles developed by common-law courts long ago, in connection with business done by mail. The question presented in this case is whether a Maryland trial court has territorial jurisdiction over a prosecution for theft by deception in violation...
