On August 23, 1989, plaintiff underwent ambulatory laparoscopic surgery at defendant, a hospital, and was released. On August 24, 1989, plaintiff was rushed back to defendant and an emergency laparotomy was performed, at which time a large clot was removed from her pelvis and abdomen.
