At issue in this appeal is the scope of an exception to Puerto Rico Law 80, 29 L.P.R.A. § 185a, which provides the exclusive remedy under Puerto Rico law for an employee who is discharged without just cause. In Arroyo v. Rattan Specialties, Inc., 117 P.R. Offic. Trans. 49, 117 D.P.R. 35, 1986 WL 376812 (P.R.1986), the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico recognized an exception to Law 80 that applies when an employer's decision to terminate...
