I. BACKGROUND

This is a racial discrimination case, brought by six named plaintiffs on behalf of a class of approximately 200 salaried African-American persons employed by Star Enterprise [Star] between 1991 and the present time. The plaintiffs allege that Star subjects the class to systems and practices that discriminate against African-Americans in promotion, compensation and opportunities for career advancement...
