A jury convicted James Scriven of distributing cocaine and marijuana in violation of S.C.Code Ann. § 44-53-370 (Supp. 1999), and the trial court sentenced him to concurrent terms of twenty-seven years for the cocaine violation and fifteen years for the marijuana violation, together with a $50,000 fine.
