This appeal arises out of a jury's award of compensatory and punitive damages on a complaint brought by Nancy Dalrymple pursuant to G. L. c. 151B, § 4, alleging that the town of Winthrop and its chief of police, Angelo LaMonica, had discriminated against her on the basis of her gender and then, when she complained to the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), retaliated by dismissing her from the police force.
