On November 3, 1999, following a three-day trial, a federal jury found appellant Antonione Smith guilty on one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) (1994). Smith was thereafter sentenced to 51 months in federal prison, where he now resides....
