LEWIS, J.:

Defendant Rickey B. Giles was convicted of aggravated battery of his wife and sentenced to a term of 162 months in the custody of the Secretary of Corrections. This is a direct appeal from that conviction.

The evidence introduced by the State in this case showed that on the night in question, defendant had been drinking excessively and was unhappy and angry with his wife because she failed to locate a money order he wanted. Defendant's anger led...
