These consolidated personal injury and wrongful death claims arise from a one-vehicle accident which occurred in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, at approximately 9:20 p.m. on September 1, 1992. In that accident, Lajuana B. Petre sustained severe personal injuries and her ten-year-old daughter, Shanah Brooke Petre, was killed.
