The appellant, Mary Lou Cooper, filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus, in which she challenged her 1981 conviction for robbery in the first degree and her sentence of 15 years' imprisonment. Cooper stated that, after she pleaded guilty to the charged offense, she was taken to the Dallas County jail.
