The defendant, Herman Fletcher, Jr., was charged by bill of information as an habitual offender pursuant to La.R.S. 15:529.1(A)(1), based on three prior felony convictions. At a hearing held March 4, 1997, he acknowledged his conviction of the predicate offenses described in the bill of information.
