The defendant, Gerald Haynes, was charged by bill of information, jointly with Larry Lynute, with one count of attempted second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:27 and La. R.S. 14:30.1. He pled not guilty and moved for a separate trial from Lynute on the charge, which was granted. Prior to trial, the state filed a motion in limine, asking that the trial court not allow the defense to introduce at trial an affidavit signed by Lynute stating that...
