On October 1, 1998, the defendant, Preston Johnson, was indicted on one count of armed robbery in violation of La. R.S. 14:64 and one count of aggravated rape in violation of La. R.S. 14:42. The defendant entered pleas of not guilty to both counts at his arraignment on October 7, 1998.
