Gervarse Bowles was indicted for the attempted murders of Derek Burpo and Patrick Warren. See §§ 13A-6-2 and 13A-4-2, Ala.Code 1975. A jury found Bowles guilty of the attempted murder of Burpo and of the lesser included offense of menacing, see § 13A-6-23, Ala.Code 1975, as to Warren. Bowles was sentenced to 21 years' imprisonment for the attempted-murder conviction and to 1 year's imprisonment for the menacing conviction. On...
