STATEMENT OF CASE

The State charged the defendant, Earl Cooper, with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, a violation of La. R.S. 14:62.2 by bill of information on 27 March 1997. The trial court appointed counsel and defendant entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment on 8 April 1997.
