Respondent, Calvin Cooper, filed suit in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County to recover unpaid commissions from his erstwhile employer, Admiral Mortgage, Inc. The action was brought pursuant to Maryland Code, §§ 3-505 and 3-507.1 of the Labor and Employment Article (LE), and, in accordance with the latter section, Cooper sought not only the unpaid commissions but also treble damages, attorneys' fees, and costs.
