Defendant, Brandon Johnson, was charged by grand jury indictment with first degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30. After a 15-day jury trial, a unanimous jury found that he was guilty of second degree murder [La. R.S. 14:30.1]. The trial court denied his motion for postverdict judgment of acquittal and motion for new trial, and defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment without benefit of probation...
