BYRNES, Judge.

Following a bench trial on August 23, 1997, the appellant was found guilty as charged with simple burglary, a violation of R.S. 14:62. On March 16, 1998, the appellant was sentenced to three years at hard labor. On June 5, 1998, he was found to be a triple offender, with one of the predicates a violation of the Controlled Dangerous Substances Act punishable by more than five years imprisonment. Accordingly, the trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment...
