OPINION OF THE COURT

CASTILLE, Justice.

Appellant appeals from the lower court's denial of his Post Conviction Relief Act (PCRA) petition claiming that the PCRA court erred in denying the petition without a hearing.1 We find that the PCRA court acted within its discretion by denying appellant's petition on the basis of the record before it and, therefore, affirm.
