Defendant, David MacArthur, proceeding pro se after his retained counsel withdrew, was convicted by a jury of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2) (West 1996)) and driving with a blood- or breath-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.10 or more (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1) (West 1996)).
