STATEMENT OF THE CASE

On 16 July 1999 the State filed a bill of information charging the defendant-appellant with one count of possession of cocaine, a violation of La.R.S. 40:967. The defendant was arraigned and entered a not guilty plea on 20 July 1999. On 13 August 1999, after having heard testimony, the trial court denied the defendant's motion to suppress evidence. On 8 September 1999, the defendant withdrew his former plea of not guilty...
