The defendant, Byron Bradley, was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, in violation of La. R.S. 14:80. Following a bench trial, the trial court found that the defendant was not guilty of the criminal charge. The Louisiana Department of Social Services (DOSS) filed a separate suit to establish paternity and submitted the matter based on the criminal record.
