The defendant, Mary E. Appacrombie, was indicted by a grand jury for second degree murder, a violation of LS-R.S. 14:30.1. The defendant entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged and sentenced to serve life imprisonment without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
